Melynda Taylor

By the age of five, with help from her older siblings, Melynda had unlocked the secrets of reading. Within a few years, she had found sanctuary in the school library, and, during childhood summers, she eagerly awaited the weekly bookmobile that came along the rural road to her family’s farm, bringing fresh literary adventures.

In ninth grade, she became familiar with the town’s public library, then in a sprawling Victorian mansion shaded by ancient oaks, near her father’s workplace. After school, she could lose herself there before riding home with him. The gracious librarians granted her special permission to check out four books at a time instead of the standard two. Melynda claims that by the time she put on her high school cap and gown, she had read her way through that entire library.

Her long, winding road to becoming an author was varied and adventurous. She pursued her studies, married, embraced motherhood, and enjoyed a career that included the US Department of Justice, US House of Representatives, high-level political campaigns, a large environmental organization, university-affiliated think tanks, and Boston’s Channel 7, with minor excursions into law, business, and real estate. Whenever it was possible, she would set off to explore the world and has so far visited 64 countries.

Now retired, when she can, she loves to curl up with a good book on the worn leather sofa in her son’s den with Atticus Finch, her sweet grand dog, nestled against her.

Melynda lives in the south of France.
